Maritime experts believe they have finally identified the exact location of rest for Captain James Cook’s legendary ship. New England Resort Town.

In 1778, Britain intentionally sank a ship off the coast of Newport, Rhode Island, in a strategic move to stop the attacks of France and the United States.

The wreck, also known as the “Kelley” site, is between 39 and 43 feet underwater, the report says.
The site includes a mountain of linear stone ballasts, and the eastern area, according to its report, features lines at the edges of the partially exposed frames of a considerable size, closely spaced.
“There are also four iron cannons on the site,” the report continues. “The two are mostly exposed above the seabed and lie right next to each other on the west side of the site.”

“By 2019, careful surface investigations of all shipwrecks within the limited survey area determined that RI 2394 was the most likely candidate. [the] ex-hms efforts,” the report said.

These include evidence of hull repairs consistent with what is known about the shortage of wood in the US, the Elmukir in Europe, and the efforts of HMS.

The report concluded that “RI 2394 is the largest shipwreck site within the LSA and demonstrates attributes that meet the criteria.”

This effort has great significance in Australia’s history as the first European ship to reach the country’s east coast.
After the ship sailed around the world, it was sold to civilians in February 1775, and was renamed “Road Sandwich” before it was abandoned.
