The Los Angeles County Department of Health announced the actor’s death certificate on Thursday. Secondary causes include acute hypoxic respiratory failure, chronic respiratory failure, and squamous cell carcinoma at the base of the tongue.

Kilmer’s daughter confirmed that the “Top Gun” star died on April 1st after fighting pneumonia. He was 65 years old.
“Thank you for honouring our extraordinary father’s memory,” his family shared in a statement provided to Fox News Digital at the time. “We are so proud of him and we are honored to see his legacy celebrated.”
Kilmer had previously suffered health issues in 2015 and was battling throat cancer.
