Eric Dane tries to celebrate a big victory in life after revealing His ALS diagnosis.
Dane, 52, announced in April that he was fighting. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)It is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. He has since detailed some of the heartbreaking effects of neurodegenerative diseases, some of which included losing function in his limbs.
Despite new challenges in his life, the “Countdown” star has made it clear that he is taking things into one at a time.

“We’re doing great things today,” Dane told Fox News Digital exclusively. “I’m getting closer to this one day at a time, but today is a good day. So it’s a victory.”

He told acclaimed journalists he had one functional arm due to illness, and the right side of his body “has completely stopped working.”
Dane told Fox News Digital that his story was “treated with subtlety and respect.”

“You know, Diane Sawyer is an act of class and a legend,” he said. “You know I couldn’t think of someone better to tell stories than her.”

In an interview with Sawyer that aired Tuesday, Dane opened up about her debilitating illness and explained to the doctors leading her care how she found hope.
“I’m very hopeful…I don’t think this is the end of my story,” he said. “And I’m going to bring that idea to me, whether that’s the case.
“That’s what I got [Dr. Merit Cudkowicz] When I met her. …There was a sense of hope that I didn’t get from the other doctors I met. ”
Dane said he had spoken previously with an organization that said his doctors were there… they said they were there to monitor my decline. That’s not much help.”
Cudkowicz said the risk factors behind the disease could include anything from environmental concerns such as lake plastic and bacteria to sports injuries.

Dane, who revealed the diagnosis in April, said it aired on Monday in another segment of the interview.
“At the time I was not thinking about it,” he told Sawyer. “Maybe I was texting too many times and I thought my hands were tired. A few weeks later I realized that it got a little worse. I went and saw the hand specialist who sent me to another hand specialist. I went and saw the neurologist.

“I have one functional arm,” he said. “My left side is working. My right side is completely gone. [My left arm] I’m going. I feel like maybe a couple, a few more months, and I don’t have my left hand either. I’m calm. ”

“I feel good when I’m at work. Of course, there was some kind of set-off, but I feel pretty good. My mind is always pretty buoyant. So at the end of the day, that’s all important.”
Dane told Fox News Digital that his work in front of the camera has not changed since the diagnosis and is “the same thing between the action and the cut.”

He portrays Nathan Blythe in the Prime Video Crime Drama Television series starring Ackles as LAPD Det. Mark Meetham.
Ackles said his co-star “killed it every day” on set.
“You know, I didn’t take on the action, so I didn’t have to prepare myself for this role,” Dane humbly admitted. “I know my line a bit, and I hit my mark and I show up on time.”
