Google announced Wednesday that it will help power producers support Elementl Power in response to investments in developing three advanced nuclear sites.
Google said in a blog post that “Elementl Power will provide early stage capital to prepare three potential US sites for advanced nuclear projects.”

The nation turns to smaller advanced nuclear reactors for its electricity needs
According to Elementl Power, each site will generate at least 600 megawatts of electricity.
The two companies will partner with utility companies and “regulated power partners” to “identify and advance” new projects, according to a press release.
Google also said that collaboration with Elementl Power will “help Elementl advance its goal of bringing important nuclear capacity online online by 2025.” Over the next decade, Advanced Nuclive Project Developer hopes to introduce over 10 new gigawatts.

The agreement between Google and Elementl Power comes about five months after the tech giant signs an agreement with another nuclear energy company.
Through that transaction, Google will purchase nuclear energy from “multiple” small modular reactors developed by Kairos Power. These reactors will be located in the relevant service area to supply clean energy electricity to Google data centers starting in 2030,” Kairos Power said at the time.

Last year, Microsoft announced a power purchase agreement with Constellation. According to Constellation, the 20-year agreement will back up in Pennsylvania to “open the way” for the three-mile island Unit 1 reactor.

In October, Amazon said it had signed three new agreements to develop nuclear energy projects. These agreements were with the Northwest Energy, X-Energy and Dominion Energy.
A report from Gridstrategies predicts that US electricity demand will increase by 15.8% by 2029, with data centers, manufacturing and electrification as the key contributors.
Another International Energy Agency reported that U.S. electricity consumption from data centers would increase by 130% from 2024 to 2030.
