General Motors is bringing back a popular, affordable electric car model after years off the market.
The Chevrolet Bolt will return for the 2027 model year, with a starting MSRP of $29,900, according to a company press release.
“A more affordable LT will be available later in the model year, starting at an MSRP of $1.28,995,” the press release states. Both EVs priced under $30,000 include $1,395 in destination and freight.
GM says the car will be a “limited production model with customer deliveries beginning early next year.” EV The company says it will be offered in compliance with Tesla’s North American charging standards and will have a range of 455 miles.

GM was first released In 2015, the Chevrolet Bolt EV was sold with a battery manufactured by the LG company as part of a business agreement with the automaker. GM initiated a recall in 2020 after receiving numerous complaints about some vehicles catching fire.
GM will end production of the Bolt EV in 2023, and in May 2024, GM and South Korea’s LG Energy Solutions reached a settlement to create a $150 million fund to provide relief to Chevrolet Bolt EV owners affected by battery defects, according to documents filed in a U.S. court and seen by Reuters.

The Volt’s relaunch comes as rising prices due to tariffs and a decline in federal EV subsidies are putting pressure on consumers.
