Authorities say the shooting began around 11:50am, the two were not FSU students.
During a press conference Thursday afternoon, authorities identified the alleged shooter as 20-year-old Phoenix Echner, a student at the school.
Ichner was taken to hospital after being “neutralized” by the authorities. Police also said his mother was a sheriff’s adjutant. Leon County Sheriff’s Office; Adding Ichner, he used his mother’s weapon to kill him.
FSU said all classes have been cancelled until Friday and the athletic event in Tallahassee has been cancelled until the weekend.

FSU President Richard McCullough issued a statement on the X, calling the shooting “tragic and pointless acts of violence.”
Cancellations include the school’s seventh-ranked baseball team’s three-game series against Virginia from Thursday, and the final home series for the regular season fourth softball team against Georgia Tech from Friday.
School’s final two spring soccer practices have also been cancelled.
