The Supreme Court heard oral debate on the challenge to the president on Thursday Donald TrumpEfforts to end birthright citizenship are cases where it can raise more broadly the authority of lower courts to block administrative officers’ actions.
It is unclear when justice will rule, but their decision to quickly follow the case means that opinions and orders may come within weeks or days.
Justice across the ideological spectrum appeared to agree on Thursday that the use of universal injunctions has skyrocketed in recent years. This cuts off actions by both Democrats and Republican presidents.
