Brown’s contract has not yet been finalized, but it appears that both sides are making progress with a formal agreement.

Brown’s pending arrival in New York City comes almost a month from the Thibodeau exit. Brown has spent the past three NBA season Coaching for the Sacramento Kings. He also had two stints as head coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers and led the Los Angeles Lakers from 2011-12. He was named associate head coach of the Golden State Warriors in 2016.

Brown coached several prominent NBA greats LeBron Jamesduring his careers such as Stephen Curry and the late Kobe Bryant. Brown also learned multiple seasons under coach Greg Popovich, who won five NBA Finals early in his career.

Brown led the team to the NBA Finals only once in his coaching career. Popovich and the Spurs wiped out Brown and the Cavaliers in the 2007 final.
