The game was already 5-1, and Florida was in favor when things were getting even more chippy on the ice. It reached another level when Trent Federick ahead of Edmonton Trent Federick began picking up Sam Bennett and he cross-checked him on the ice and retaliated with a few punches as Bennett reached the top of Federick.
That first battle led all players on the ice to find a partner to duel, and the referee simply had him play a brawl. Oilers“Darnell nurses and Panthers Jonah Gajovic were clutching each other’s sweaters and throwing haymakers, while Florida’s AJ Grier dueled with Matthias Ekholm of Edmonton.

Stanley Cup Final: A thrilling 2-ot victory series with the Florida Panthers Edmonton Oilers
However, with almost half of the third term still playing, tensions between these two teams competing for the Stanley Lord’s Cup never stopped. It came mostly from the Oilers as Evander Kane was sent out of the ice for the night after slashing Carter Verhaege in the face while he was down on the ice.
There were more penalties as the clock was ticking through the brinks, and at that point both teams wanted no one to get hurt by much of the series playing. Even at the final buzzer, Oilers star Corey Perry began rocking with multiple Panthers players as fans began throwing debris on the ice.
Ultimately, the Panthers responded to excessive physical plays by the Oilers with power play targets to cap the 6-1 victory as Evan Rodriguez attacked the shot.

Apart from the fight, Brad Marchand potted past Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner in just under a minute of the game, so some incredibly offensive hockey was on display from Florida.
Merchand became the oldest player in NHL history to score in each of the first three Stanley Cup final games. But he is not the only player in this series to do so on his team.
Sam Bennett joined him in the second term after finding himself on a breakaway to the net thanks to Eetu Luostarinen, who intercepted the Blue Line Edmonton Pass.
Bennett chose a backhand for Skinner and filled in Lister’s top shelf to get a 4-1 lead. Amerant Bank Arena became violent as Bennett’s goal led to an eruption in cheering on the Panthers on and off.
Verhaeghe also entered the goal column with a power play goal supported by Rodrigues and Nate Schmidt and entered the locker room 2-0.
Perry managed to get a much-needed response to the Oilers with his power-play goals at the beginning of the second term, but Florida’s physicality, deemed legal by the umpire on the ice, ultimately led to Bennett’s goal and Sam Reinhart before that.
