Czech Republic police said the discovery was reported by a 48-year-old father who went metal detecting with his son on October 28.

During a two-day search, bomb disposal experts found 138 105mm shells, 14 75mm shells and five shell casings.
All ammunition was transported to a specialized storage facility in Larsco, a former military airport.

The artifacts probably date back to World War II, Czech media Česke Noviny reported.
“Police are grateful to the public for acting responsibly in these situations, as their vigilance and prompt reporting allows professionals to safely intervene, minimize risk and protect life and property,” the statement said.

Authorities urged the public to do the same if they come across suspicious objects, especially ammunition or explosives.
“Please do not touch the object,” police said.
