
The bold endurance swimmer is taking it to the next level as a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the film “Jaws.”
Lewis Pugh, 55, has been swimming 62 miles through a vineyard on Martha Island, Massachusetts, with water temperatures predicted to be 47 degrees.
“In this swim, it’s very different. We’re just talking. About Sharks Always,” Pew told The Associated Press.

Pugh said his goal is to raise awareness of the need to protect sharks and change public perceptions of powerful fish.
The American Association for Progressive Science estimates that around 274,000 sharks are killed worldwide every day.

Pugh said the popular 1975 film “Jaws” introduced the Shark as “a villain and a cold-blooded killer.”
He told the AP, “It’s a movie about sharks attacking humans, and for 50 years we’ve been attacking sharks… it’s completely unsustainable. It’s insane. We need to respect them.”

He said, “We need to save lives Our Sea – All our futures depend on it. ”
As you swim, a boat and kayak safety officer follows Pugh. They have “shark shield” devices that use electric fields without damaging the shark to block them.

He is scheduled to start swimming on Friday, and it is estimated that this will take around 12 days.
