New Jersey has announced it has launched a “Real ID Emergency Issuance Program” which begins Thursday to meet demand.

“We are forecasting the recent rise in demand seen nationwide, so we have created many additional accommodations to serve as many customers as possible, including this new emergency program.”

The program will continue beyond the May 7 deadline and will be offered to “a limited number of customers meeting certain criteria,” the release said.

DMVs across the country are reportedly working to meet demand, implementing actual Saturday ID events and extending the extension time that week.
The airlines and airports have reminded travelers of the PSA to obtain new identification.

“Head Up, Travelers: If you plan to jump out of the TPA immediately, check your ID now. Starting May 7th, airport travelers across the country must have a federal ID law compliant.”
