Elon Musk is Archeology’s digital renaissance It aims to reimagine life in ancient Rome and has the potential to rewrite the history books.
Tesla’s CEO recently donated $1 million to the American Institute for Roman Culture (AIRC), a US-based nonprofit organization, through the Musk Foundation.
The funding supports AIRC’s Ancient Rome Live platform, dedicated to recording and preserving Roman heritage as part of the Expandere Conscientiae Lumen initiative.
At an Oct. 24 ceremony hosted by AIRC, Musk said he has a particular interest in ancient Rome. Times of London.

“I’m interested in history, and Rome is a big part of the history of Western civilization,” Musk said.
The SpaceX founder said AI could fill knowledge gaps by helping write “new history books based entirely on ancient sources and archeology.”
Although AIRC has not disclosed how AI is involved in its projects, historical researchers are incorporating it into tasks such as translating ancient documents, analyzing artifacts, and digitally mapping ancient structures.

AIRC announced in a statement earlier this year that it had received the seven-figure gift, which it said “reinforces Ancient Rome Live’s mission to advance global understanding and appreciation of the ancient Roman world through education, research and innovation.”
“This grant marks a pivotal moment for Ancient Rome Live,” AIRC Director Darius Aria said in a statement.

“We are extremely honored that the Mask Foundation has recognized our work,” added Arya. “This confirms our commitment and we are really excited to be a participatory organization selecting new and innovative projects in this area.”
The comments came after Musk has long expressed an interest in ancient history, particularly Rome.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Musk Foundation for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
