The Justice Department has denounced the officials. Lamonica Mciver Last month they assaulted two federal agents at a Delaney Hall detention facility in New Jersey, according to new charging documents.
The document cites bodycam footage of a law enforcement officer documenting the event as McIver and two other New Jersey legislators stormed an ICE facility. Prosecutors say the associate officer attacked is said to be a homeland security investigator and the second is an ice agent.
The DOJ accused McQuiver of “slamming her forearm against the uniform HSI agent’s body, reaching out and trying to restrain the agent by forcing him to grab him.”
The charging document also states that McQuiber “pushes the Ice Officer and uses his forearm to force attack the agent.”

McQuiber refused The accusations in the official statement claim they are “purely political.”
“Early this month, I joined a colleague and inspected the treatment of ice detainees in Delaney Hall in my district,” she wrote. “As members of the council have done many times before, they had fulfilled their legal surveillance responsibilities. Our visit should have been peaceful and short. Instead, ICE agents created unnecessary and unsafe conflicts when they chose to arrest Mayor Baraka.”
“The accusations against me are purely political. They are intended to mischaracterize and distort my actions, criminalize and block legislative oversight,” she continued. “This administration will never stop working for the people of our district and standing up for the right thing, and I am grateful for the pouring of support I have received.

Prosecutors say agents blocked Newark Mayor Rus Baraka from handcuffing Newark Mayor Russ Baraka after McQuiver helped create the “human shield,” ignored many warnings that he would leave his property and was told he would be arrested.
When an HSI agent told the mayor he was going to arrest him, McQuiver stepped in and said, “Hell! According to charging documents.
The HSI agent then ordered Baraka to place his hand behind his back and showed him the handcuffs. McQuiver and other members of the council “surrounded the mayor and prevented the HSI from handcuffing him and detaining him,” prosecutors say.

Director General of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Christie Noem He squeezed the charges against McQuiver on Monday, saying “No one is beyond the law.”
“If anyone attacks law enforcement officials, regardless of party, influence or status, as witnessed by MP McQuiber Do, you would be charged to the fullest extent of the law,” the secretary wrote. “We would like to thank the brave ICE law enforcement officers for their service to this great nation.”
