Trump has confirmed the Dodgers’ deal.
“Mookie Betts, he’s fine,” Trump said before waving the star player. “That guy can’t play, he can’t believe it, he can’t believe it. I don’t want to say I saw him when he was in Boston, but I did.
“When they made it, I didn’t think it was a particularly good deal and I happened to be right.”
President Trump is a fan of the New York Yankees and mentioned it during his speech. He also spoke about the difficulty of sitting next to Yankees owner George Steinbrenner during the game.

Boston traded Betts and David Price for the Dodgers on February 10, 2020 for Jeter Downs, Alex Verdgo and Conor Wong. Wong is still with the Red Sox, while Downs played for the Yankees last season with Verdugo playing for the Yankees and are currently on the Atlanta Braves ’40 roster.
Red Sox He won the World Series for the last time in 2018, with both Betts and Price being held on the team. The former pitcher retired from baseball in 2022.

Betts was 1-4 in the RBI against the Washington Nationals on Monday night. He has hit .306 on three home runs so far this year.
