Zoran Mamdani Democrat socialist allies may be keeping an eye on key challenges for New York City’s Congressional Democrats, including House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries.
But senior political adviser Jeffries has promised that anyone trying to drive away the best Democrats in the House of Representatives in next year’s primary will face a “strong and relentless” response.

Fast forward to today, DSA leaders appear to be running major challengers against Jeffries and other House Democrats in New York City, including Richie Torres, Jerry Nadler, Dan Goldman and Yvette Clark.

Democrat strategist Andre Richardson, Jeffries’ political advisor, pointed to a radical controversial move by the president. When asked about potential major challenges in an interview with CNN on Wednesday, Jeffries replied, “I don’t know what these people are talking about.”
And Jeffries said it was “focused on pushing back towards extremism that was unleashed by the American people.”
Jeffries, Gov. Kathy Hawtle, Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer, and other Democratic-elected officials in New York praise the Mamdani campaign. And they defended him from Trump’s attacks, but for now they’re refraining from supporting the Democratic mayoral candidate.
Mamdani surged to major victories thanks to an energetic campaign focused on affordable prices and high cost of living in New York City.
He wisely used social media platforms, including Tiktok. He proposed eliminating fares for taking New York City’s vast bus system, creating rent to freeze Cuny (City University in New York) into “tuition-free” city homes, providing “free childcare” for children up to five years old, and establishing a government-run grocery store.
Thanks to the efforts of the large grassroots military of volunteers, Mamdani has taken first place, riding a wave of support from young, progressive voters. Beyond Cuomowho was the main front runner.

“When asked what Mamdani’s victory means to the party, I think it’s clear that voters prioritize not only progressive changes but broader changes and more than inaction.”
And Kaiazzo, a veteran of Senator Bernie Sanders’ 2016 and 2020 presidential elections, said one reason for Mamdani’s victory was that he met tirelessly, “there are voters.”
