Hopeful Zohran Mamdani of a democratic socialist mayor doubled his support Boycott, sale, sanctions movement Against Israel – and refused to say that this country has the right to exist as a Jewish state.
Mamdani stuck to his support for the Palestinian-led BDS efforts during a Q&A with a leading Democratic candidate hosted by the UJA Union in New York on Thursday evening, calling it a “legal movement.”
“My support for BDS is consistent with non-violence, the core of my politics,” Queens lawmakers said as they were forced onto Josh Kraushal, editor-in-chief of Jewish Insider.

“I think it’s a legitimate move when you’re trying to find compliance with international law,” he said.
“The effectiveness of boycotts, sales and sanctions tactics to motivate compliance at the state level at the individual level, and that’s where my support comes in.”
Queens state legislator said he believes Israel has the right to exist. But he carefully avoided it when he pushed forward whether it should exist as a Jewish nation.

“I think Israel has the right to exist, and everyone has the right to exist with equal rights,” he said.

“In the end, my position is what I think our cities should comply with international law,” Mamdani said, noting that the International Criminal Court has issued a warrant to Israeli leaders, adding that he has the same answer when asked about Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Zoran is consistent with his belief that Israel has a right that exists, that it has a responsibility to comply with international law and that it supports non-violent movements to ensure compliance with that law,” Epstein said in a statement Friday.

“He was heartily excited last night by his warm reception for his vision for New York, which is safe and affordable for everyone.”
Mamdani has repeatedly placed second in a poll competing for the Democratic nomination. ex-gov. Andrew Cuomohas been plagued by his anti-Israel rhetoric lately.
He faced blowback from the Jewish community as his campaign failed to sign a pair of resolutions recognised Israel and the Holocaust.

The revelation came days after he gained support from former anti-Israel “squad” members Rep. Jamal Bowman In a race for the mayor of New York, where the largest Jewish population outside Israel lives.
Lawmakers also pushed it as “not our dime law” to stop New York nonprofits from supporting groups involved in West Bank settlements.
