Rep. Nancy Mace introduced a House resolution on Wednesday, ousting Democrat New Jersey Rep. Lamonica McQuiver. He was charged the previous day by the federal government for assaulting law enforcement officials earlier this month while protesting at the Federal Immigration Detention Center.
“On May 9th, McQuiber not only broke the law, but attacked people who defended it.” Mace said In a press release announcing the resolution of a new home. “Attacking Homeland Security and Ice agents is not dishonorable, it’s assault. If other Americans did what she did, they would be handcuffed.

The Justice Department released a federal complaint against McQuiver on Monday, accusing him of “attacking, obstructing and obstructing law enforcement” earlier this month at a Newark Area Immigration Detention Facility known as Delaney Hall. Mace’s resolution points to the House of Representatives having precedents to expel members of Congress who have already been charged with serious criminal offences, according to a press release.
