Ben Cristman, an offensive college football lineman who transferred from Kentucky. On UNLVa day before his birthday, at the age of 21 in February, a day before his birthday, he was found dead in an apartment off campus.
Christman reportedly experienced chest pain that day Before he died EKG was practiced and implemented at the team facility.
Well, the Clark County (Nevada) Coroner’s Office announced Thursday that Christman had died of irregular heartbeat, a disease affecting the cardiac muscle, and arrhythmia in the heart, a cardiomyopathy.

Christman was in Ohio for two seasons before transferring to Kentucky. He sat in the 2023 season with a knee injury and played for a special team in 2024. He was scheduled to play for UNLV in the 2025 season.
“The hearts of our team are broken to hear of Ben’s passing,” UNLV head coach Dan Mullen said in a statement of his death. “Since the day Ben stepped onto campus a month ago, he has made the Rebels a better program. It was an easy choice for our leadership committee as he gained the immediate respect, praise and friendship of all of his teammates.
“Our prayers go out to his family and everyone who knows him. Ben makes the world a better place and he is overlooked.”

President Keith E. Whitfield said he was “incredibly saddened” to hear about Christman’s death.
“It is rarely said that at such a young age it will reduce the pain of suddenly losing a member of our university family. My heart breaks for everyone who knows and loves him,” he said. “On behalf of UNLV, our sincere deity dol is to Ben’s family, friends, loved ones and teammates during this extremely difficult time.”

Christman was from Akron, OhioI played high school soccer at Libya High School. He was a four-star recruit from high school.
