Oklahoma City Thunder Shai Gilgeous-Alexander became the seventh straight international player to win the NBA MVP award on Wednesday.
James Harden He was the last American to win an MVP when he did it with the Houston Rockets from 2017-2018. Former Duke star and current ESPN analyst Jay Williams asked if cancellation culture was the reason why there were no American MVPs these days.
“People aren’t going to like it, but I really don’t care. Do you think this cancels culture with the political aspects of where we were compared to where we went?” Williams said in ESPN’s “first take.”

Williams begged his coaches to coach young players hard and begged them to give them accountability.

“Oh, he told me something bad, I can’t play for him!” When the coach screams at you, I know that the coach can’t say anything anymore, but coach those young kids hard – and it’s screaming at you.
