“Born from sadness, shaped by love and led to purpose, this is the book that Bruce needs when he is first diagnosed and freezes with fear and uncertainty,” she wrote on Instagram about “An unexpected journey.”
“This is a book I trust and help the next caregiver. It’s full of the support, insight and hope you need to navigate this journey.”

Emma, 46, shared a sweet black and white photo of her and Bruce on the book cover.
“I wrote a book if someone had got me the day we were diagnosed,” read her second photo on Instagram.

In March 2022, it was announced that Willis was “away” from his acting career due to a diagnosis of aphasia. It was later announced that he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.

In an Instagram video clip last month, Emma said, “This is not something I normally comment on, but I really believe there is some learning in this story about the tragic passage of the Hackmans.”
She continued, “It just made me think about this broader story, and that means that caregivers also need care, and that they are important and it’s very important to show up for them so that they can continue to show up for them.”
Hackman was found dead at his home in New Mexico on February 26th. Authorities later confirmed that Betsy died of Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome on or around February 11th.

Hackman died of cardiovascular disease in hypertensive atherosclerosis, and Alzheimer’s disease as an important factor.

“Today marks 16 years of life’s love. We shared a monumental high and a catastrophic low. Through that, we created something timeless,” she wrote on Instagram with a candid photo of the two.

“I am so grateful for every chapter I had with him, and everything we continue to write in the unconditional love language,” Emma writes.
In her Instagram story at the time, the model shared black and white photos of the couple holding hands, displaying her wedding rings, and tattooed No. 321 on what appears to be Bruce’s fingers.
