
For decades, legendary sports broadcaster Jim Nantz was a familiar sound Master. His tone and familiar catchphrases are well combined with Augusta National’s tradition and respect, but according to Brandel Chambley, that’s not wrong.
Chamble, currently a studio analyst for Golf Channel, said in a recent podcast appearance that certain types of etiquette are required to cover the master.

“There’s something you shouldn’t say – the fans are big. In their eyes, it’s fanatic and they don’t want to mention the people there are fanatics. So you hear people say patrons.” “Foreplay” Podcast.

Chamble pointed out other differences such as driving ranges, known as the “tournament practice facility” at Augusta National. He also said the last nine holes in the round were not called “back nine.”

“But if you say nine times in the air, you’ll be blamed because it’s the second nine. Because the back nine is closer to the back side and the back side is too colloquial.”
While it may seem extreme to some, Chamble said he believes his approach to covering the master has given way to some of the biggest moments of golf.
“You got these great calls from Jim Nantz and Verne Landquist, and back then, they were Ben Wright and they were wise in their choice of words. It’s soft, slower, more respectful. I think that’s a big part of the best reasons. golf Tournament of the Year, I argue. ”
