US Olympic gold medalist Mary Lou Letton appears to have been distrust after police determined she had failed a series of outdoor sobriety tests at a DUI stop, as seen in newly released police body camera footage of her May 17 arrest in West Virginia, obtained by Fox News Digital.

She was seen removing the oxygen tube from her nose and reattacking to perform the test. Reton was diagnosed with “rare pneumonia” in 2023.

The officer then asked if she had a valid driver’s license and she replied, “It’s in Texas.”
After taking the test for nearly 10 minutes, one officer told another that “she all failed.”
Reton gasped incredibly.
“What am I?!” she asked.
“You’ve failed to drink all the fields, ma’am,” the assistant officer said.
“No, I didn’t!” she retorted.
“Yes, I did,” he insisted.
The former gymnast was later seen refusing to get tested for Bressa Liza as officers notified her that she was being arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. When the officer handcuffed her, she cried out to an acquaintance nearby, “They think I’m drunk!”

The footage later showed Reton being escorted to the police station.
When she arrived there she was seen telling the officer. [who I am]. ”
There, Reton was seen agreeing to test blood alcohol levels via blood tests.
Letton’s mug shots made her calm mood, appearing to be on the tearful.
Former gymnastics star Marion County Court records show that he was charged with driving on May 17th under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances or drugs. She was released from prison after posting a $1,500 personal recognized bond.
In a statement previously provided to Fox News Digital by Reton’s attorney Edmund J. Lollo, the gold medalist acknowledged and apologised to drive under the influence.
“I take full responsibility for my actions,” the statement said. “I couldn’t fully accept what happened. I don’t make any excuses. To my family, friends and fans. I’ve disappointed you.
“I am determined to learn and grow from this experience and am committed to bringing positive changes to my life. I am truly grateful for your concerns, encouragement and continued support.”
According to Rollo, Retton also entered a no-contest plea, with a Marion County judge fined $100.

“Mary Lou Letton appeared in court this afternoon and did not lament the contest over unacclaimed DUI accusations stemming from recent incidents,” Rollo told Fox News Digital. “Mary Lou accepts full responsibility for her actions and receives a standard $100 fine, consistent with the first non-gravated crime sentencing guidelines in this jurisdiction.
“In line with her values, Mary Lou was subject to the same legal process as other individuals. She is grateful for the professionalism of the law enforcement and the court system, and she fully respects the outcome. Mary Lou has expressed her sincere desire to use this experience as a moment for reflection and accountability.
Letton was called “American Lover” for his performance that won a gold medal at the 1984 Summer Games Los Angeles. She was just 16 years old when she got the perfect 10 in her floor exercises, the perfect 10 in her vault in her final two rotations, and the first American woman to win an Olympic All-Round title.
She won five medals that year. It’s one gold, two silver, two bronze.
After she retired from gymnastics, Reton became a motivational speaker and frequently shared a message about the benefits of proper nutrition and exercise.

She also served on the Presidential Council on Physical Fitness and Sports under the ex. President George W. Bush.
When Reton was diagnosed with “rare pneumonia” in 2023, her family said she was “fighting for her life.” She was admitted to the intensive care unit as she helped the doctor fight the illness.
“This is serious, this is life and I’m so grateful to be here,” she said in 2024 on NBC’s “Today.”
