The New York Post reports an entire chapter dedicated to “mistakes.” This brings to the fact that yes, Tom Brady cannot remain a patriot for his entire career.
But Belichick also mentions passing certain MVP quarterbacks in today’s league. Lamar Jackson.
When Jackson was drafted 32nd overall in 2018, the Baltimore Ravens returned to the first round and grabbed him on the final pick on the first day. Since then, he has won two MVP awards for seven seasons, but has not achieved postseason success along the way.
Bill Belichick doesn’t mention Robert Craft in his new book: Report
The Patriots had a Super Bowl defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles, offering their 31st overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft. Instead of taking Jackson, they would choose Sonny Michelle from Georgia at the location. The Super Bowl winners during the 2017 season, the Philadelphia Eagles traded the No. 32 pick for the Ravens, with the rest being history.
But why twice? Well, the Patriots owned the 23rd pick early in the NFL Draft. They used it in an offensive tackle/guard, another Georgia product, Isaiah Wynn, who forced their line in front of Brady.

But Brady was about to turn 41, and while he was still performing, the team had to think about the future in the most important position in the sport.
It was no immediate regret for the Patriots as Michelle wins the Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams, who closes his rookie season with 931 yards and six touchdowns. Wynn also started 50 games for the Patriots from 2019 to 2022.
Now Jackson hasn’t gone to the roaring start of his career, Joe Flaco is still a veteran option above him on the depth chart. However, when it was time to hand over Jackson’s starting obligation, he took off under John Harbaugh. The Ravens played off five of five of the next six seasons following the Patriot Super Bowl, but they slowly began to crumble at Foxborough.
Brady left before the 2020 season and he continued to win the Super Bowl Tampa Bay Buccaneershe also hired Rob Gronkowski as the tight end.

The Patriots hope that McJones will be the right answer in that position, putting him 15th in the 2021 NFL Draft. And they made the playoffs in his rookie campaign, but he didn’t pan out in the long run as he posted a sub.500 season for the third year in a row.
