Ben Affleck He teaches his children that he shouldn’t expect handouts from his famous father.
Last month, the 52-year-old actor made headlines after he and his son Samuel were featured on a viral video, closing the $6,000 Dior Air Force 1 request for 13-year-old Dior Air Force 1 during that time.
In her Tuesday appearance on “Today with Jenna & Friends,” the “Accountant” star spoke about his exchange with Samuel and opened up about his approach to parenting.
“He wanted these sneakers. ‘These sneakers are $6,000. What are you talking about? What are you going to do: mow the grass? Did you get $6,000?” “He was like, ‘I have money.’ I said, “I have money!”

Affleck said it is important for his children to understand the value of hard work.

“You love your kids. You want to give them everything and do everything for them, but I think you will definitely be at a disadvantage to them by not connecting. [if] You want what you want, you have to work for it,” he said.
The Oscar winner shares Samuel with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garnerwith two older children.
Affleck revealed that Yale freshman Violet and high school student Finn are already already employed.
“Two of my oldest people have jobs. In fact, one has just done work. There are classic teenagers who work in the shop. I won’t say what that is,” he said. “My older guy at university is working and is about to win a summer internship.”
“And yeah, my 13-year-old son, he’s thinking about that reality now. He doesn’t look at his shoes in the closet. Well, he has his shoes.
“And I said, ‘Well, if you want that, you can work 1,000 hours,” he added. “Do you know what I mean? Minimum wage. And if you work 1,000 hours, you might not want to spend that on a pair of shoes.”

“That’s what happens when you tell your mother—they have to mow the lawn,” he told the outlet at the premiere of his film “The Accountant 2.” “All of a sudden they didn’t want those shoes and he said, ‘But I’d always say they’re tough.’ I’m like, “Man, you don’t need $1,000 shoes.” ”
Affleck grew up in a middle-class family in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The actor’s mother, Christopher “Chris” Anne Bolt, is a former elementary school teacher who received a master’s degree from Harvard University.

Timothy Affleck, the father of Affleck, who had been struggling with alcoholism for many years, did not attend college and worked as a Harvard auto mechanic, bartender and admin.
Timothy and Chris Anne, whom sons share Casey Affleck, 49, divorced when Affleck was 12 years old. After moving to California, Timothy eventually accepted the drinking and worked as an addiction counselor.
In an interview with Grazia Daily in 2018, Timothy told the outlet that she is proud of Ben and Casey by staying humble after rising to fame.
“My sons are both hardworking. They have an incredible amount of empathy. They never forget where they came from, they are very kind and generous. Those are the qualities I cherish,” he said.
Affleck is one of several stars who spoke about their tough love parenting style. This is a look at other celebrities who teach their children to become financially independent.

Osmond made it clear that he would lend his children a helping hand if necessary, but she emphasized that it is important for her to learn to become independent.
“I don’t help kids,” she told us each week. “In other words, [if] They need help [buying] A car or something [I will pitch in]. ”
“I love them to learn. If you don’t get it, you don’t love anything. So even if they get their first car, you pay half of it, get a job, learn that self-worth. [it] Osmond added.
Osmond shares his son, Stephen Jr. with his husband, Stephen Craig Sr., and the singer and her ex-husband, Brian Brosil, are the parents of seven children, Rachel, Jessica, Michael, Brandon, Brianna, Matthew and Abigail.

The restaurateur added that Rider also initially found his father’s choice that his first car was unfair.
