Great Scott – 40 years have passed since “Back to the Future” appeared on the big screen, and it has become the beloved classic of the 80s.
The film, premiering on July 3, 1985, stars Michael J. Fox as Marty McFrey and Christopher Lloyd as “Doc” Dr. Emmett Brown. It tells the story of a teenager who becomes friends with a heretic scientist, and accidentally goes back to 1955 thanks to his invention.
It was Claudia Wells’ first film as an actress. She played McFly’s love interest, Jennifer Parker.

“Michael J. Fox was incredibly wonderful and easy. [with me]”Wells recalls on Fox News Digital. It was really amazing.”
“He was funny, relaxed, very cheerful, and, as everyone knows, his acting genius,” she gushed. “I remember sitting in the driveway BMW in the final scene we were. He was playing rock music during his break. I grew up listening to opera. Symphonies and Simon & Garfunkel, It was truly the first time I’d ever felt like a teenager after listening to teenager music. ”

“It was my first time so I was nervous I was in a real movienot only on television, but “Wells admitted.” But after the camera rolled… that was easy for me, and it was a very second nature… [And] Jennifer Parker and I were very similar. ”

The 59-year-old said it was Lloyd who lost her words on the set.
“I was surprised at how quiet Christopher Lloyd was,” she said. “But I love it about him, so when he talks, it’s because he really has something to say.
Looking back, Wells explained how he struggled to shake off the jitter.

“I remember writing a long list of questions about the time sequence and everything that changed from Marty in 1955, Jennifer was the same,” recalls Wells. “I had a lot of questions about the time continuum. I was asking [screenwriter] Bob Gale filmed all of these questions on the phone before filming. ”
“Bob [finally] “Claudia, you’re thinking too much — just become Jennifer,” Wells said. He’s very specific about how he directs, and that’s part of the reason why I think the film was so amazing. ”
Wells continues to have his favorite memories To bring comedy to life.

“I loved making movies!” she said. “Bob Gale and I have built a huge friendship from my start as ever, and it’s amazing that it’s been 40 years since the film was released. [And] What really makes me smile every day is how films have brought this kind of shared love to people all over the world. ”
The success of the film led to a trilogy, but Wells reluctantly declined the offer to reprise her role. Elizabeth Shue replaced her with “Back to the Future II” (1989) and “Back to the Future III” (1990). Wells’ mother, who was also her manager at the time, was I almost died of breast cancer.

“She wanted me to continue the role, but she didn’t agree with my decision,” Wells previously told Fox News Digital. “But I was emotionally in a place where I could handle more than what I was already dealing with, and my mother wanted to be supported and cared for.

Wells took a break from acting in 1986 and opened a men’swear shop. Armani Wells in Studio City, California.
In 2021, Wells shared her favorite theories about her character.
“I had a business lunch [with a friend]”She told Fox News Digital at the time. He said, ‘Do you want to know why you think you’re Jennifer in the first film and Elizabeth in the sequel?” I thought he was going to say it was because my mother was so sick at the time. ”

“He said, ‘Please forgive me, I’m so interested in this film, but when Marty went in the past, Doc Brown kept warning him.
“He said, “I think Marty must have done something that changed Jennifer Parker’s parents. One of the parents changed. So instead of seeing them, it was Elizabeth Shoe’s parents that one parent was different. So they gave birth to a Jennifer version of Elizabeth Shoe, not yours. And when he entered the present, everyone thought it was normal because no one noticed all the changes Marty had made.”
