Waymo recalled about 1,200 unmanned vehicles due to issues with software detection and corresponding responses to chains, gates and other similar road barriers.
Autonomous driving companies are already deploying updated software for automated driving systems (ADS) for 1,212 unmanned Waymo vehicles that have been recalled to fix the issue. Remember the report It was submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Monday.

“Before the WAYMO ads receiving the remedies described in this report, in certain instances, Waymo vehicles were involved in collisions with road barriers such as chains, gates and other gates, depending on how the object was detected or how the Waymo ad responded to the detection,” Waymo said in the report.
The NHTSA said conflicts with these types of barriers could increase the risk of injury. Reports show that none of the 16 reported cases caused Waymo to be injured.

According to a Recall report, software updates installed by Waymo “significantly” reduced the chances of accidents that include chains, gates and similar barriers.
