The “Big Money Show” panel will discuss Counterpoint Research’s prediction that Apple will regain its throne as the world’s largest smartphone maker.

Analysis by Counterpoint Research found that global smartphone shipments will increase 3.3% year-over-year in 2025, with much of that increase coming from Apple.

Counterpoint predicted that Apple’s shipments would reach 19.4% in 2025, making Apple the world’s leading smartphone maker for the first time since 2011.

“Apart from the very positive reception of the iPhone 17 series in the market, the main driver of the increase in shipment estimates is that the replacement cycle has reached an inflection point,” said Yang Wang, senior analyst.
“Consumers who purchased smartphones during the COVID-19 boom are now in the upgrade phase. Additionally, 358 million used iPhones were sold from 2023 to Q2 2025. These users are also likely to upgrade to new iPhones in the coming years.”

That base is consumer demand According to the analysis, it is expected to help Apple maintain its newly regained lead among smartphone manufacturers until 2029.
Samsung’s strategic move to the A series is expected to strengthen its momentum in emerging markets through stronger specifications and competitive pricing, while in mature markets Samsung’s move towards premium products is expected to help defend market share, Counterpoint predicted.

Counterpoint said diversification could help Chinese manufacturers strengthen their earnings, while shipment rankings are expected to remain stable until 2029.
