Archaeologists discovered an ancient dam in Jerusalem David city – Not too far from the body of water that Jesus famously healed the blind man.
Authorities noted in an August 30 release that the wall was recently discovered during excavations near the Siloam pool in Jerusalem Wall National Park.

John 9:10–11 reads, “How did you open your eyes?” they asked.
The newly discovered dam dates back to the 9th century BC, almost 2,800 years ago. Officials say it may have been built under the rule of King Joash or King Amazia.

The dam was discovered as part of a joint research project between the Israeli Ancient Bureau (IAA) and the Wiseman Institute of Science. The team published research in the Proceedings magazine of the National Academy of Sciences (PNA) on August 25th.
Surprisingly, the dam is the biggest ever Found in Israeland the oldest in Jerusalem.

In addition to being 26 feet wide, the structure is approximately 39 feet tall and 69 feet long.

The researchers also identified the dam’s age at a very slim 10-year margin thanks to the twigs and branches embedded in the dam’s mortar. Built between 805 and 795 BC

David noted that the dam could have been a “creative solution to the climate crisis” as a direct response to the droughts and flash floods that exist in ancient Jerusalem.
“The dam was designed Collect water From the spring of Gihon and the floods flowing through the main valleys of ancient Jerusalem,” the excavation superintendent said in a statement.

In a statement, IAA director Eli Escusido called the dam “one of the remaining days of Jerusalem’s most impressive and important First Temple period.”
He said, “In recent years, Jerusalem has been revealed more than ever before, with all its periods, layers, cultures, and many surprises still await us.”
