Many Americans are rushing to book an appointment with their local automotive department to get a “actual ID” as the license deadline approaches quickly.
Air Force travelers from May 7th Domestic airports And people entering some federal buildings must have what is known as the actual ID.
Some states, such as New Jersey, are overwhelmed by demand, so even if additional booking slots are added, there are virtually no bookings for many to get their actual IDs.
“In addition to the currently available plans, approximately 3,500 new plans will be added on a rolling basis each morning for actual ID upgrades,” a spokesman for the NJDMV told Fox News Digital.
“Additionally, we’ll add over 4,600 plans for each new ‘Real ID Thursday’ that we roll over on the schedule,” the spokesman said.

The spokesperson added: “One more, we have supported the numbers for these appointments.”
Fox News Digital will be on Monday. car (NJDMV) website has indicated that “Approsments Appitions available” to the actual ID service on that site.
The public relations officer said, “ NJMVC is currently open 49.5 hours a week, providing real ID appointments and providing real ID appointments to appoint more than 10,000 real ID Thursdays each week, making it one of the leaders of all state DMVs on opening hours and real ID appointments. ”

“In addition to the 10,000 appointments scheduled each week at the agency, using four mobile units for actual ID events around New Jersey,” the spokesman said.
New York also introduced “Real ID Thursdays” on April 3rd.
Other states have announced that they will extend DMV time to meet the demands of Americans who are rushing to get new forms of identification.

California DMV On April 7th, it announced that some locations will open an hour earlier as Californians rushing to get their IDs before the deadline can accommodate them.
Location 18 will open at 7am on weekdays, except Wednesdays. It is also reserved only for those who have planned their actual ID.

“We look forward to serving Californians early this spring and summer,” DMV director Steve Gordon said in a press release.
“These additional appointments make it easier than ever to obtain your actual ID,” added Gordon.

In Virginia, two DMVs hosted a 4-hour “real ID” Scheduled events only“The past two Saturdays.
“This special event offers a dedicated and convenient service to customers in the Hampton Road area who are trying to obtain their actual ID,” said one of the announcements for the event.
New Jersey residents sparked a debate over Reddit when they shared their frustration over trying to book a new ID appointment.
“I tried to check out the different times of the day, but still no luck.”
On the “r/jerseycity” forum, a user who recently posted, “I’m trying to book a reservation for my real ID. Various NJ MVC locationshowever, every place I check says reservations are not available. I have tried to check out the different times of the day, but still no luck. ”
Users sought advice from fellow residents when they were about to book a booking.

Can you apply by asking “Please request an unrealistic ID reservation and submit all your requirements…please ask properly” [for a] A real ID? “That’s how it worked for me,” said one Reditor.
The person added, “I hadn’t planned it in advance. [was] No two IDs or stars have been added. ”
Another user added, “Maybe it’s easier Get your passport. I updated mine online. It took me two weeks to get to me. ”

Another said, “Apparently there will be actual ID pop-ups across the state this month over weekends, but I don’t know exactly where and how that will work.”
Redditor said, “They were released (and snapped) all day. It’s the question of finding an automated school that will either get lucky or alert you when bookings become available. That’s how I got mine a few years ago.”

Another user read, “I read somewhere that my schedule is open on Thursday. Last week I checked at 1am, 2am and 3am on Thursday, accidentally fell asleep and checked at 4:40am, but with my actual ID I saw about 15-20 spots in each location.
Another user said, “If you need to renew your license, you can get your actual ID at the same time. This is what I did with North Bergen this past week. When I check my ID, I’ll ask if I’d upgrade to the actual ID.”

The New York State DMV states that the actual ID is a “federally compliant DMV issued driver license, learner permit or non-driver ID” that requires you to board a domestic flight or enter a certain federal building from May 7, 2025, unless you have a valid passport.
