Alice of the Chain After receiving unfortunate medical news, we cancelled our tour.
The band announced their decision on social media on Saturday to cancel the highly anticipated upcoming tour, due to medical advice they received regarding drummer Sean Kinney’s health.
“After careful consideration and following the advice of medical professionals, we decided to cancel the remaining festival performances and the Chain-In headline show.” Band Statement read. “We all wanted to go back to the stage, but Sean’s health is our number one priority at the moment.”
The statement does not specify an accurate diagnosis for Kinney, and only shares “the issues need immediate attention” and “his long-term prognosis is positive.”

They ended the statement by expressing their sincere appreciation of their fans for their “understanding and support at this time.”
Fans of the popular rock band were quickly flooded with Kinney’s wealthy stuff in the comments section on Instagram. He also praised the band ahead of the tour.
“Good for Sean! The stage is still there when you’re better, and so are the fans,” one follower wrote in the comments section.
The other is, “I love seeing bands that respect enough members to put the most important things first. Respect. My best wish for Sean.”

The cancellation news comes as Kinney was “non-life threatening” shortly after the band canceled a concert at Mohegan Sun Arena in Monville, Connecticut on May 8th. Medical emergency“Sound checking.
Had the group not cancelled the show in Connecticut, it would have been the first time they’d performed together for more than a year, as their last show would have been at the Chic New World Festival in Las Vegas in April 2024.
In addition to canceling the tour, they canceled upcoming performances in Nashville and Atlanta, appearing at various music festivals, including MMR*B*Q, Sonic Temple and welcome to Rockville. For now, their only scheduled performance is mid Black Sabbath’s final concert According to the band’s website, in the UK in July.
The Alice in Chains was formed in Seattle in 1987, and Kinney played drums alongside bandmates Jerry Cantrell, Mike Starr and Rain Staley. Current band members Mike Inez and William Duval later joined in to replace Starr and Staley.
