
Incredible Air Traffic Control (ATC) audio captures the moments when staff lose their radar and radio signals. Newar Liberty International Airport Last week in New Jersey.
The suspension lasted about 90 seconds on April 28th. The National Air Traffic Controllers Association confirmed the incident with Fox News Digital, writing that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) business in Philadelphia “temporarily lost radar and was unable to manage communications with the aircraft, hear, listen, or speak.”
This audio shows the first moment of the controller learning to stop in Philadelphia Tracon/ATCT.
“There are some equipment outages so I don’t know what the equipment is, but there’s a frequency problem so there’s a radar scope out so no one can leave right now,” one man hears.

“I’m going to move you here because the approach told me it lost all radar. Three of the four radar screens will be black and there is no frequency.” There is another radar.
Another man said, “I think this is a serious problem as we’ve arrived one more.
The audio also captures the controller that attempts to get more information about the outage.
“Are you thinking about how long the departure delay will last?” a man asks in audio.
“I don’t know. I’m still waiting for words from Newark Tracon,” another replies immediately.

“This approach told me that some technicians went in and looked at the radar and left,” the man said. “They think it’s likely to be delayed.”
This incident was prior to major delays and cancellations New Jersey travel hub, It’s ongoing since Thursday.
In a statement obtained by the FOX Business, the FAA addressed the staffing shortage that contributed to the issue.
“I can’t replace it anytime soon [the controllers who have left] Due to this highly specialized profession, we continue to train controllers that will ultimately be allocated to this busy airspace,” the agency said Monday.
