Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass faces increased scrutiny from the president Donald Trump For handling the anti-ice riots that holds the city, following decades of political scandals and criticism as an elected official, Fox News Digital learned.
Bus, sworn as mayor in 2022, is setting the fire on fire when federal law enforcement officials gather in the city after condemning the migrant raid that began in LA on Friday. protest It quickly fell into violence and confusion.
Since then, Trump administration officials have argued that democratic rhetoric condemning immigrant attacks simultaneously provided a message of support for illegal immigrants living in the country, bolding protesters and leading to riots.
“Newsom and his sturdy Karen Bass promoted and encouraged the riots as their entire political movement existed for one purpose. To promote massive migration to our country,” Vice President JD Vance wrote Tuesday. Democratic leadership has no solution for the economy, prosperity, or security. When they are the majority to import millions of illegal immigrants, and when they are against them, they do everything they can to prevent deportation. ”

As bass faces ongoing condemnation from the Trump administration for Southern California violence, Fox Digital looks back on previous scandals and incidents that have landed former House members in hot water.
Famous Communist Leader
When Bass is a top candidate to join the former president Joe Biden As his running mate during the 2020 election, multiple news reports have analysed past comments on communist leaders, including grieving in a statement the death of Communist Cuban dictator Fidel Castro in 2016.
“I would like to express my sadness to the Cuban people and the family of Fidel Castro. The death of Commandante En Jeff is a great loss for the Cuban people. We hope that our two countries will continue on a new path of support and cooperation with one another, and continue on a new direction for the tumor.” “Comandante en jefe” will be translated into commander.
Bass distanced herself from the statement when she faced vetting to join the 2020 presidential ticket along with the 2020 presidential ticket, saying that her views on Cuba “developed over time” in 2020, and that she understands Castro’s government, which lasted nearly 50 years, is “a cruel government.”
Mayor Bass condemns Trump’s ice attack to launch a riot, claiming that “things in LA is calm.”
“I would never have made that statement,” she added while appearing on Fox News that year.
Bass raised a political brow again in 2020 to praise the Communists after reviving the Communist Party in 2017.
“I would like to honor the life and memories of Oneil Marion Cannon, my friend and mentor, who passed away on January 20th, just a few days before my 100th birthday,” Bass wrote of Oneil Cannon.
Comments did not state that Cannon was the top leader of the Communist Party USA and instead was “very involved in politics” and that he belonged to the independent Progressive Party.
“I would like to pay tribute to his long-standing commitment to serving and uplifting others, and his century of struggle to make the world a better place,” she added.
Objects published in a newspaper set up as communists, The world of peoplereported that Cannon was a “long-time communist” and served as the “Director of Education for the Southern California District and a member of the party’s Southern California and National Central Committee.”
Bass’ team argued in response to criticism of the Communist leader’s praise that former House members never shared Cannon’s political ideology.
“Karen Bass has always been a Democrat and a Democrat. The lawmaker has been friends with Kevin McCarthy and is not a Republican. She knew One Cannon, but never shared the political ideology he may have had at one time in his life,” a spokesperson told Politico at the time.
When asked to Fox Digital on Thursday about the list of previous scandals and criticisms, Bass’s Office told Fox Digital that the mayor was focusing on “leading the city through this difficult time to ensure the safety and stability of its residents.”
“The administration continues to make chos and induce people in Los Angeles, but Mayor Bass is focused on leading the city through this difficult time to ensure the safety and stability of its residents. Mayor Bass has brought about a change in her leadership and crime is declining.
Bass’ Deputy Mayor raids and admits the threat of fake bombs
Bass’ Office faced scrutiny later last year after the FBI stormed the home of her vice-mayor Brian Williams after the FBI poses a bomb threat to Los Angeles City Hall.
Williams, who doesn’t work in the mayor’s office, agreed to plead guilty in May to a felony charge of “information with threats about fires and explosives.”
The former vice mayor’s plea agreement outlined last October 3rd that Williams attended a virtual meeting with his colleagues when he called his workphone using the Google Voice application on his personal phone, DOJ reported in a press release last month. City officials then left the virtual meeting, Los Angeles Police StationThe Chief of Staff reports that he received a call from a man threatening to bomb city hall.

Williams then texted Bass and other city officials that he was threatened with bombs, the DOJ said.
“Bomb Threat: I received a call on my city phone at 10:48am this morning. The male caller said, “He’s tired of the city’s support in Israel and decided to put the bomb at city hall. It may be in Rotunda.” I immediately contacted the LAPD Chief of Staff. They’re going to do a search of the building and send a lot of officers to determine if anyone else has been threatened,” Fox News Digital read previously.
“Williams never received such a call and threatened the bomb threat himself. Williams never intended to carry out the threat,” the DOJ said in a press release.
“Like many, we were shocked when these allegations were first made, and we are saddened by this conclusion,” a bus spokesman said he acknowledged the threat of Williams’ bombs in May.
Scientology’s past praise
In the 2022 mayoral campaign, Bus faced backlash in the 2022 mayoral campaign, which launched an advertising campaign that showed Bus praised the Church of Scientology in a 2010 speech at the group’s headquarters opening in Los Angeles. Scientology is frequently described as a “cult” by former members. The church is a label that rejects.
“The Church of Scientology I know made a difference,” Bass said in a 2010 speech. “Because your beliefs are universal beliefs and you speak to everyone everywhere.”
In the backlash, Bass distanced himself from the group and cited how his direct account “published the group.”
“In 2010, I attended the event, knowing that I would deal with a group of people with very different beliefs than I did, and briefly spoke about what most of us agreed to and what I think we respected those things: different views, equality, respect for oppression.
California wildfire reaction
Bus faced intense criticism earlier this year after a wildfire erupted in Los Angeles while she was abroad in Africa.
The bus traveled to Ghana for the country’s president’s oath ceremony in January when Southern California was at high risk of a fire, Fox Digital previously reported. The Palisade fire began on January 7th, with base not returning to California until the next day.
The reporter confronted Bass about traveling abroad when he left the plane when he returned to Los Angeles, but she refused to answer his questions.
“Do you owe an apology for having citizens absent while their homes are burning? And do you regret cutting millions of dollars in the Fire Department’s budget, Madame Mayor?” asked Sky News Reporter David Blevins. When I saw the bass waiting for me to leave the plane.

“Is there absolutely nothing I can say to today’s citizens?” he added, but the bass then went viral after not responding on the video.
A photo showing the base at a Ghanaian cocktail party came later, just before Fox Digital reported earlier, was issued the moment the evacuation order was furious.

“The presidential delegation was hosted by the US ambassador of Ghana on his way to the plane,” bassist spokesman Zach Seidl said in response to a photo from the time. “For the majority of the time, the mayor was in another room on a call from LA.”
“It felt absolutely horrifying not being here for my city,” Bus said in February in an interview with Fox 11 Los Angeles.
“I wonder if I would say it was a mistake? Absolutely. The idea that I didn’t exist was very painful,” she added.

But that didn’t end the struggle as Christine Crowley of the Los Angeles Fire Department told local media during the Raging fire that they believed the city of Los Angeles and Bass had failed specifically for residents. The fire chief added that the department has long been troubled by staffing issues and lack of resources.

“From day one, we’ve identified a huge gap between service delivery and the ability of firefighter boots to work from day one,” Crawley said at the time. “This is my third budget when we enter 2025-2026, and all I can tell you is we are still understaffed, we are still underfunded, we are still underfunded.”
“Budget cuts will affect our ability to provide services,” she said. “That’s the basic truth about our capabilities. If we had budget cuts, we had to pull from somewhere. What does that mean?
Base fired Crawley in February, citing the former fire chief’s handling of wildfires.
“We know that the 1,000 firefighters who could have been working in the morning had fires instead under Chief Crawley’s surveillance,” Bus said.
