former Louisville Basketball Star Russ Smith was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of drunk driving in Kentucky, according to online records.
Smith, a member of the team that won in 2013 NCAA Title, later invalidated for violation of the rules, was arrested shortly after midnight on Sunday and charged with driving a car under the influence of alcohol.

Louisville Courier Journal Officers reported that Smith’s vehicle was driving across multiple lanes, including a crosswalk, and that the vehicle’s tag had expired.

According to the report, officers detected a “strong smell of alcoholic beverage” in Smith’s breath during a traffic stop.
Smith reportedly failed an outdoor drinking test and had a blood alcohol content of 0.073. The Louisville Courier Journal reported that Kentucky law could potentially be claimed based on other evidence if a driver has a BAC above 0.04 but below 0.08.

Smith reportedly admitted to officers that “two bourbons pour cleanly” before driving.
Online prison records showed Smith was accused of not having a proper registration plate and not having reckless driving. He was released on Sunday and is due to return to court on Wednesday.
