For the first time in 10 years, the Americans won French Open After Coco Gough defeated Alina Sabalenka in three sets to collect the trophies at Roland Garos.
Golf’s Second Grand Slam It wasn’t easy. She had to abandon the world’s No. 1 player game on the famous clay court. She was down after the first set tiebreak went to Sabalenka, but Gouf had a noisy crowd behind her, which ultimately led to a celebration from the clay.
Gough has received social media praise from many for her victory, including Michelle and Barack Obama.

“Congratulations, @cocogauff!” wrote Michelle Obama. “Your determination, strength and grace throughout the French Open have inspired us all and shown us what is possible. We are proud of you!”
The former president added, “Congratulations to @Cocogauff for an incredible championship at French Open, the first American singles champion in 10 years. You’re all proud of us.”
Goff was locked up in court, but there were many American celebrities in Roland Garos’ stands. “Inside the NBA” Host Ernie Johnson and others.
People in the tennis world were excited to see Gouf’s tenacity and determination.
“Congratulations to @Cocogauff on her second Grand Slam women’s single title and her first single title at #RolandGarros!” tennis great Billy Jean King wrote to X, “Exceptional!”
Even Carlos Alcaraz, who faced Janik Sinner in the men’s singles final at Roland Garos, took the time to congratulate Gouf.
“Congratulations to so many @cocogauff!!!” he wrote to X.

Another tennis legend, Martina Navratilova, called Gouf’s performance “a great comeback and a fight!”
Even the Miami Dolphins and the Miami Heat were posted for Gouf’s victory. She has heavy South Florida bonds after growing up in Delray Beach.
As many who congratulated her, Gauff had two Grand Slam victories and first won her at the 2023 US Open.
