Democrat Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass faced backlash on social media on Friday, including members of the Trump administration, as she pushed back immigration and customs enforcement raids targeting illegal immigrants in her city.
“I was reported to federal immigration enforcement measures at several locations in Los Angeles this morning,” Bus said in a statement Friday.
“As mayors of a proud immigrant city who contributes to our city in so many ways, I am deeply angry at what happened. These tactics inhaling fear in our communities and disrupt the fundamental principles of safety in our cities.
The mayor’s statement, which has earned over 2 million impressions of X, attracted immediate pushback from conservatives, pointing to criticism of leadership, preparation and Los Angeles’ devastating wildfires that killed 30 people earlier this year.

The Associated Press reported that immigration advocates have confirmed that at least 45 people have been arrested at seven locations. The location included two home depost stores, a fashion district store and a donut shop, according to Angelica Salas, executive director of the Humanitarian Immigration Rights Union (Chirla).
Videos of the operation, filmed by bystanders and TV news crews, showed people escorted across the parking lot at Home Depot. The video captured a clash between protesters and federal agents on detention sites.

The bus drew more criticism online from users accusing protesters of stirring as the protests grew on Friday evening, with riot-equipped law enforcement having to bring in to calm the crowd.

Fox News Digital has requested comment from the mayor’s office.
In addition to the controversy, the Los Angeles Police Department issued a statement saying it was not involved in deportation or immigration enforcement.
“Today, LAPD has noticed that federal law enforcement agencies have been operating in the city of Los Angeles. They know that these actions are causing anxiety for many Angelenos, so LAPD is not involved in civil immigration enforcement.”

“Although LAPD will continue to have a visible presence in all communities to ensure public safety, it will not support or participate in any large-scale deportation of any kind, and LAPD will not attempt to determine the status of individual immigration.”
That position has attracted criticism on social media, including Homeland Security Director Tricia McLaughlin.
“They attacked the ice enforcers, slashed the tires and tainted the building,” she posted. “800 protesters surrounded and violated the first tier of the federal law enforcement building in LA. @lapd

“We don’t support this,” McLaughlin said. Saturday morning post This included graffiti photos of mobs on the scene with messages such as “Kill Ice” and “F *** Ice.”
The guest added in another post. “The fact that LAPD is not responding is a huge scandal. La Mayor Karen Bass has previously refused to restore law and order, as this violence against federal law enforcement is raging.
