California Attorney General Rob Bonta’s Office has provided a statement to Fox News Digital, addressing the U.S. Department of Justice and sending a June 9 deadline warning to amend a policy banning trans athletes in women’s sports.
“We are extremely interested in the Trump administration’s ongoing threat to schools in California, and are committed to defending and supporting the situation. California Laws that guarantee the rights of students, including transgender students, and all additional laws are free from discrimination and harassment. We review the letter and are closely monitoring the Trump administration’s actions in this area,” the statement read.
Trump’s post comes days after Transathlete AB Hernandez came in first place in the state women’s high and triple jumps and second in the long jumps. Trump sent a warning to California Gov. Gavin Newsom last Tuesday, threatening to cut federal funds to the state if trans athletes compete in the women’s track and field championships.

The Inter-California Governance Federation (CIF) responded by amending rules to accommodate female athletes who finished behind trans athletes in three events where Hernandez competed, recognising the qualifications and podium finishes acquired by biologically male athletes who were not competing in those events.
This forced Hernandez to share the podium with a female athlete who finished one spot behind Hernandez after the final on Saturday.

Last Wednesday, the Department of Justice (DOJ) released a federal investigation into California regarding possible IX violations in policies allowing trans athletes in women’s sports. The state has already been investigating the Ministry of Education on the issue since February.
DOJ announced the state deadline on Monday.

a Bipartisan investigation The majority of California residents are opposed to biological male transathletes who compete in women’s sports, according to the California Institute of Public Policy.
That number includes more than 70% State school parents.
“Most Californians support the requirement that trans athletes compete in teams that are assigned to the gender-specific teams at birth,” the poll said.
“A solid majority of adults (65%) and voters (64%) support the requirement that trans athletes compete in teams that match the gender assigned at birth, not the gender they identified.
Meanwhile, Newsom himself said in an episode of his podcast in March that he considers trans athletes competing in women’s sports to be “deeply unfair.”
