Edmonton Oilers They reached their second Stanley Cup final as they defeated the Dallas Star 6-3 in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Thursday night.
The Oilers look for revenge Florida Panthers In the Stanley Cup final after a heartbreaking Game 7 loss last season.
Edmonton has one game less to send Dallas in this year’s Western Conference final rematch. Last season, the Oilers moved on after beating 4-2 in the Western Conference Finals.

The Oilers took an early lead on Thursday, scoring on their first two shots. Corey Perry and Matthias Janmark Beat Star goalkeeper Jake Ottinger gives Edmonton a fast 2-0 lead.
Dallas head coach Peter DeBoer wasted no time and pulled Oettinger out of the game after allowing two goals. However, the switch to backup goalkeeper Casey De Smith didn’t do much better.
Edmonton’s Jeff Skinner traded Oztinger and beat Desmith for a goal shortly after giving the Oilers a 3-0 lead on the first goal of the playoffs.
The star managed to cut the lead to 3-2, but Conor McDavid scored a beautiful breakaway goal to bring the game back to the Oilers with a 4-2 game.

Stars forward Jason Robertson scored to make it 4-3, but Oilers forward Evander Kane responded with goals to regain the Oilers’ two-goal lead. Edmonton’s Kasperi Kapapanen finished the victory with an empty net goal as it took time to get 6-3.
This is the third consecutive season in which Star lost in the Western Conference Finals.
“We have to keep knocking on the door,” Deboer said. “We followed every game in this series. It’s a difficult way to play hockey against that team. It was the storyline of the entire series, but it was Connor’s fourth goal… The puck bounces back into the neutral zone and he comes out of the bench, he doesn’t miss it.”
At the post-match Oilers celebration, McDavid made it touch to Clarence S. Campbell Bowl, the trophy awarded to the Western Conference champion. Last year he made a superstitious choice not to touch it, but they lost in the Stanley Cup final.

“I think that’s pretty obvious,” McDavid said of what’s different from the end of last year’s Western Conference Finals. “Don’t touch it last year, you won’t win. Please touch it this year. Hopefully we’ll win.”
Last season’s Stanley Cup Finalthe Oilers have almost pulled away from one of the most unlikely comebacks in sports history. Edmonton was late to 3-0 in the series, but fought to force Game 7.
Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final is scheduled to start Wednesday at 8pm.
