Will JD Vance and AOC face off in 2028?
All-Star panelists Matthew Contetti, Sabrina Singh and Philip Wegman look at early speculations about 2028 White House races and more in their “Special Report.”
2028 Presidential Election It may seem like a long way to go, but in reality, the early movements are already underway by Democrats who bring national ambitions.
And one Republican politician has already sold 2028 items.
The “Trump 2028” hat is available for $50 and a T-shirt read as “Trump 2028 (rewrite the rules).”
But the rules are very clear. Amendments to Article 22 of the US Constitution limit the president to two terms of office.
And after months of flirting after running his third term in the White House, he was president. Donald Trump It appears to have eliminated another campaign.
Where Trump stands in his second term for four months with the Americans

Despite touting strong support for the 2028 run for reelection at Maga World, the president said in an interview this month about NBC News’ “Meet the Press.”
“I will be the president for eight years,” Trump added. “I’ll be the president two terms. I’ve always thought it was very important.”
But Trump’s cheating in 2028 is no joke, and his drastic moves have kept him in the spotlight since the start of his second mission tour at the White House, avoiding Lambdak’s story, putting the damper on the fast move, Republican Party I want to succeed the president.
Democrat Eye 2028 is just a few months after Trump’s second term
The next GOP presidential nomination race is not underway until Trump is ready to share the spotlight. He recently said it was “too early” to start those discussions.
But Trump also added, “I want to spend four years and hand it over to someone else. Ideally, a great Republican, a great Republican to move it forward.”
With that in mind, let’s take a look at the Republican White House candidates in 2028.
Vice President JD Vance

vice president jd vance He appears to be a clear heir to the “America First” movement and the powerful Republican MAGA base. It was point-driven, driven by the president’s eldest son, Maga Rockstar and a powerful ally of the vice president, Donald Trump Jr.
“We’ve got four more years of Trump and eight years of JD Vance,” Trump Jr. said on the Ohio Campaign Trail a few weeks before the November 2024 election.
As a sitting vice president, Vance enjoys many perks that can lead him to the position of frontrunner. Among them, the large staff and Air Force 2, which accompany the work, have repeatedly used stops in the US and around the world since the start of the Second Trump administration.
And Vance is now the finance chair of the Republican National Committee and the first incumbent vice president to hold such a position on the Nationalist Party Committee. With this post, Vance frequently contacts GOP’s top donors.
However, Trump hinted at Vance as potential successor and called him a “fantastic and wonderful man” in an interview with “Meet the Press,” but he avoided anointing the vice president as the party’s next candidate.
Vance has not taken steps towards the 2028 presidential run and is not taking it seriously at this point, a source on the vice president’s political trajectory told Fox News.
“I’m not really focused on politics,” Vance said in an interview with “Fox and Friends” in early April. “I’m not focusing on the midterm elections in 2026. There are far fewer presidential elections in 2028. When we get to that point, we talk to the president. We know what we want to do.”
And the 40-year-old vice president added, “The way I think about it is that if we do a good job, politics takes care of ourselves.”
Secretary of State Marco Rubio

In addition to Vance, Trump was also nominated for Secretary of State in his “Meet the Press” interview Marco Rubio As a “great” potential GOP leader.
“Marco is doing outstanding work,” the president said.
Rubio, a former rival who clashed with Trump in the 2016 flammable Republican presidential nomination fight, became Trump’s major ally in the US Senate during his first term as president.
In addition to serving as Secretary of State, the 53-year-old Florida former senator is also acting as a national security adviser, acting as a national archives and acting administrator for the International Development Agency.
Rubio’s expanded portfolio in the second Trump administration has spurred speculation about the possibility of a presidential bid in 2028, but he faces skepticism from parts of the Maga world questioning “America’s first” qualifications.
Ron DeSantis, Government of Florida

The conservative Florida government. Ron Desantis He flew high after his re-election in the 2022 landslide, but the 2024 presidential primary and the blow-up battle with Trump defeated him by height.
However, the remaining 46-year-old governor of the Florida office, the remaining year and a half, has proven his fundraising skills over the past few years, maintaining a large number of supporters across the country.
Desantis was able to repair his relationship with Trump to some extent, helping to raise funds for GOP tickets during the general election, and won a Prime Time Speaking slot at the 2024 Republican Congress. And in December 2024, the governor was now considered a possible alternative when he was a defense secretary. Pete Hegzes The nominations were temporarily shaken.
DeSantis certainly still has national ambitions, but this year his feud with the Republican-controlled Florida State Legislature and controversy over charities related to Florida’s First Lady Casey DeSantis are seen as potential hurdles.
Virginia Government Glen Youngkin

Thanks to his 2021 governor victory, Gov. Glenn Youngkin, a first dozen Republicans by Virginia Republicans, quickly became a rising star in the GOP.
In Virginia, governors are limited to one four-year term. In other words, Youngkin has seven months of tenure left.
The 58-year-old governor, who is from the Republican business division but was able to thrive in the Maga-controlled party, is likely to have national ambitions.
And in the state where Youngkin kicked off the GOP presidential nomination calendar in July for half a century, a trip to Iowa, the National Party fundraising gala headline has sparked speculation in 2028.
Asked about the White House run in a digital interview with Fox News in late 2024, Youngkin pointed to his job as governor, saying, “We need to get strong finishing so that Virginia really gets soaring, and that’s what I’m going to spend time.”
He then said, “See what’s next.”
Georgia Government Brian Kemp

The popular conservative governor is one of the few people in the GOP who can claim that he not only survived but also thrived in the rage of Trump.
Georgia Government Brian Kempthose with a limited period have been in office for two years and enjoy strong positive reviews on important battlefields.
Kemp was heavily recruited by National Republicans to run in 2026 to traverse a Democrat-controlled Senate seat. And the announcement by the 61-year-old governor at the beginning of May that he would hand over the 2026 Senate run spurred the topic that Kemp could be pondering his 2028 White House run.
Asked about the president’s potential run in November 2024, Kemp told Fox News Digital that he was “trying to keep all the doors in politics open.”
Sen Ted Cruise

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz (Fox News – Paulsteinhauser)
Senator Ted Cruz Trump was runner-up in the 2016 Republican presidential battle.
The controversial conservative fire engine took on the challenge again in 2024 as it ran through what was considered another difficult re-elected bid after just surviving the 2018 re-election.
However, the 54-year-old senator has earned a six-year term in the Senate, nearly three years.
Since the start of Trump’s second administration, Cruz has reaffirmed his conservative credentials by opposing the president’s controversial tariffs.
Honorable mention
Among others, Nikki Haley is the focus.
The former South Carolina governor, who served as UN ambassador in Trump’s first term, was the first GOP challenger to jump into a race with the former president in the 2024 nomination race.
Haley has long lasting the rest of the field and became the ultimate challenger to Trump before closing the White House bid in March 2024.
Haley, 53, supported Trump in the general election, but prior clashes with the president during the primary left their mark. She spoke to the loyal people of the GOP at the 2024 convention, but her political future in a Trump-controlled party is uncertain.
The three politicians who took the 2024 run but passed are Arkansas Tom Cotton, Missouri’s Josh Hawley and Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem.

And in addition to Haley, we’ll put three other 2024 candidates on a large list of possible 2028 candidates. Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy is a Republican frontrunner in the 2026 campaign for the governor of Ohio, but perhaps has strong national ambitions.
Interior Secretary Doug Burgham is a very visible player in Trump’s Cabinet.
And when former Vice President Mike Pence was asked earlier this month that he might consider another White House run from Fox News Digital, he repeatedly “become a voice” for traditional, conservative values, saying, “We’re the future dealing with itself.”
