Steelmaker Nucor said Wednesday that it had experienced a cybersecurity incident and temporarily closed some of its production operations as a precaution.
The North Carolina-based company said it had discovered “illegal third-party access to certain information technology systems” it used.
Nucor said it had not specified production operations that were shut down “temporarily and aggressively” in regulatory submissions, but is currently working to retrieve them and carry them out.

“The company has actively investigated and notified the incident with the assistance of key external cybersecurity experts. Federal Law Enforcement“Nucor said in his Securities and Exchange Commission application: “As the investigation into the case is ongoing, the company will continue to monitor the timing and importance of the case.”

Nucor considers it to be the “largest and most diverse producer of steel products” in North America. According to its website, it manufactures products such as bars, beams, electrical conduits, girders, and fasteners.
