New York Giants No. 3 general pick Adbul Carter wanted to wear Lawrence Taylor’s retired 56 jersey, but Taylor said no. Luckily for Carter, another giant’s great may be willing to unleash his jersey count.
Phil Sims, 69, said he gave up No. 11, who retired due to Carter or rookie quarterback Jackson Dirt.

Simms said if Adbul Carter asks for it, he’ll give him a jersey number if he’s left to him, but his family and agents may not want to give up on him.

If the Sims actually give Carter or Dart a retired number, the Giants are not retiring from the number of rookies for the second year in a row. Last season, the team did not retire from the late Rei Flaherty #1 of wide receiver Malik Nabers.
Flaherty’s family gave the Giants permission to unleash the number of Nabers, whom they often wore it. As a rookie, the Nabers set a franchise record for most receptions of the season at 109.
