The Ryder Cup was supposed to be played at Beth Page Black Last September, but the pandemic postponed it for a year.
But now, golf fans are finally in countdown mode Team USA and Team Europe Battle on Long Island.
While golfers may not necessarily want to win the Ryder Cup (it’s actually the majors that make up the legacy), emotions come out every September.

But for Team Europe’s captain Luke Donald, the Ryder Cup has always meant something.
“To be honest, one of my first memories when I was growing up was seeing the Ryder Cup in 1987. This had a huge impact on me as a kid as a child, as it was the first time the team won in US soil,” Donald told Fox News Digital in a recent interview.
“Some of my most special memories on the golf course are in the Ryder Cup, because you can share it with everyone, so it’s a very fun week, the atmosphere it creates. People who don’t follow golf want to fit the Ryder Cup for what it represents. It’s a big focus for me, but I really enjoy the experience of doing it and trying to prepare and give the team the best opportunity for success.”
The road team has not won the Ryder Cup when they overcome a 10-4 deficit on Sunday’s singles since the team’s miracle in Medina in 2012 (the US has not won in European soil since 1993). Since then, the home team has won the Cup with five Ryder Cups.
The closest matches in that range were European five-point victory at Glen Agles in Scotland in 2014 and 2023 victory at Rome.
Donald knows “New York is loud and ready,” but fighting that is his job.

“The biggest advantage is the support you get from the crowds of people in your home. We see it in all sports. It’s a huge advantage in Rome, and it’s a disadvantage in New York. And I have to try and figure out a way to dissipate it,” he said.
Of course, the best way to do that is to build the best team possible. And while Liv Golf forced the event to wrinkle, the plan is to have a European hero and two major champions from the 2023 team. John Larm On Beth Page later this year.
“John is a member of the European Tour, qualified to be selected and is still one of our best players. Unless his form takes off dramatically, I hope he will be there for us,” he said.
Brooks Koepka was the captain’s pick in 2023 thanks to his victory in the PGA Championship and a second-place finish at the Masters. He is narrowly qualified based solely on points, but this is very impressive and quite impressive considering that LIV players trying Team USA can only score major points.
Koepka was the only Liv Golfer in the tournament that year. In fact, Donald became European captain after Henrik Stenson was removed from his role by a European tour after he was expelled from LIV.
