Archaeologists excavating future golf course sites were surprised to find evidence of prehistoric villages, including rare tank wheels from thousands of years ago.
Excavation has been carried out Near Inverness in ScotlandOn the grounds of the future old Petty Championship golf course at Cabot Highlands.
Experts working at Avon Archeology Highland also discovered the Bronze Age cremation URN, estimated to be 3,500 years old, along with the flint tools and Quern stones used to grind grains.

The site also found at least 25 Neolithic wooden buildings, according to the BBC.
Archaeologists told the news agency that the latest discoveries “paint pictures of ancient life in the highlands, from ritual practices to agricultural innovation.”

Cabot’s Vice President of Golf Development Stuart McComb praised the finding in a statement to SWNS.
“This was an incredible journey from prehistoric times to the present.
“It’s humble to think that our new championship course, Old Petty, will rest on such a thing. Historically rich ground“The executive added.
“We are proud to maintain this legacy while creating a world-class golf experience.”

The full findings of the excavation will be made public in the future, archaeologists say. (SWNS)
Archaeologists are currently working on analyzing and dates of the remains, and it is expected that a full report will be released as soon as the golf course opens.
This discovery was one of many ancient British discoveries in 2025.
