“Dear President Trump, we are writing about attacks on universities, including threats and actions that your administration withholds funds or punishes certain higher education institutions.
“We also write as a Jewish senator who has opposed the rising anti-Semitism in the United States, including on university campuses, and called on university leaders to do more to tackle anti-Semitism with accountability and action following the horrific attacks by Hamas by Israeli Hamas.

The Quintet called Trump’s decision to freeze funds for Harvard and focus on other schools where anti-Semitic actions and protests have been plentiful last year with “wide and legal attacks.”
Lawmakers said Trump’s actions “are way beyond fighting anti-Semitism,” and that it would reach the scope of “using real crisis as an excuse to attack people and institutions that don’t agree with you.”
Speaking specifically at Harvard, the senator said he threatened to cancel Ivy League College’s tax-free status and threatened to cancel sleazy faculty as “waking up, radical left idiot.”
“Instead, they seem to aim broadly in the way universities function, strictly enforce large penalties in a way that is not entirely related to the fight against anti-Semitism, and we instead aim to undermine or destroy these important institutions.
They provided a branch of olives to work with the Republicans in the fight against anti-Semitism, but their beliefs repeated that Trump’s overture was “simply a means for an end” to destroy the opposition of his ideological.
They called on the President to respond by next Wednesday to details on why certain universities are subject to the federal funding freeze and the calculus to do so.
“In Harvard’s case, specifically, the specific accusations made against Harvard regarding anti-Semitism should explain certain details, including naming certain cases, and explain in detail your accusations, including why you believe that the steps Harvard has already taken to strengthen its response to anti-Semitism are insufficient,” they write.
They also said Trump has praised cancer research that targeted Harvard Medical School and questioned that particular decision.
“What is your legal justice… when almost every legal scholar decides there is no basis for you to do this?” they concluded.
