Spell said Hatty “loves her dad,” but the children knew the marriage had become toxic.
“It’s gotten worse for the kids to see us together,” Spell said. “We can no longer hide the fight, what’s going on.”
“He’s a lot of an addict, and a lot of it took me, and she saw it,” Spell continued. “I didn’t like the person I was in. I just tried to raise strong people, I took them, I took them.”
“I think, at least on my part, the desires of our children have prevented us from making better decisions outwardly than what we saw between our two partners, simply wanting our parents together,” she added. “It’s just kept me in a relationship too long and I feel it’s ultimately hurting my kids.”

The previous couple shares five children – Beau, 8, Finn, 12, Hatty, 13, Stella, 16, and 18 years old.
Spell filed for divorce first March 29, 2024. She cited June 17, 2023 as the date of separation of couples. The actress asked for spouse support from McDermott and asked her to end the court’s ability to award her estranged husband the support of her spouse.

Spell also called for full custody of children along with joint legal custody.
McDermott first announced the separation of the couple On Instagram In June 2023, however I deleted the post immediately.
