Many officials, hotel owners and tourism officials cite a decline in Canadian tourists as the main reason for the decline in visitor numbers.
Now, Circa Resort & Casino has launched an “Equivalence” promotion, offering Canadians comparable exchange rates at their accommodations.
Las Vegas tourists leave the city, tourism plummets to early 2000s levels
Casino owner Derek Stevens told Fox News Digital that he was inspired by his childhood in Detroit.
“I remember thinking this many times when Canada’s exchange rate deviated too much from its parity with the U.S. dollar. restaurants, hotelsbars etc. will put up signs in front of their establishments,” he said.

He said the signs “depicted either the Canadian flag and the U.S. flag separated by an equal sign, or the Canadian dollar and the U.S. dollar with an equal sign.”
Stevens said this is a welcome signal to Canadians from these facilities.

He said Canadian tourists are now not just visiting Las Vegas. hawaii and miami.

So far, Canadians have been “divided” in their reaction.
“I think half, maybe a little less, are saying, ‘No, I’m not coming, I don’t have a chance. I’m angry. I’m not welcome here.’ US” Stevens said.

“The other half is like, ‘Thank you for that attitude. Thank you for the welcome. We’re definitely going to consider booking with you because we didn’t feel welcome and we appreciate the fact that there are people who make us feel welcome,'” he also said.

The Las Vegas Tourism Authority (LCVA) released a year-to-date summary of 2025, including numbers through November.
Sin City was visited by 35,457,000 people, down 7.4% from 2024, the report said.
