What the U.S. defense system lacks is AI-driven industrial speed. According to one prominent technology executive, it’s not just the weapons that matter, but the ability to build them fast enough.
Shyam Sankar, Palantir’s chief technology officer, said, “The United States has a historic opportunity to lead the next decade of prosperity with AI.” “Morning with Maria” Monday. “The other element of deterrence is really the factory floor. It’s how do you make weapons and platforms? Can you make them at a rate that actually deters an adversary?”

Since its founding, Palantir has entered into major partnerships with U.S. government military forces, including the Army, Air Force, Space Force, and Navy, to leverage Palantir’s artificial intelligence tools to revolutionize military operations.
“I think there’s a fatalistic narrative coming out of both Silicon Valley and Wall Street, where a very different reality is happening on the factory floor, in ICU nursing centers, in industrial suppliers on the ocean floor, and that’s leading to job growth,” Sankar said. “This is about empowering American workers and giving American workers superpowers that can take on the reindustrialization of our nation. That’s what’s happening every day on the ground right now.”

When asked by host Maria Bartiromo to give an example of how the company could “prevent World War III,” Sankar pointed to Palantir’s recent work in the navy and shipbuilding industry as a case study.

Shyam Sankar, Palantir’s chief technology officer, corrected critics who say artificial intelligence will create mass unemployment, praising the company for enabling companies to hire “more” on “the bottom line.”
“We are seeing the deployment of integrated plans, supply chain solutions that reduce dwell times,” he elaborated. “One of our suppliers was actually able to add a third shift. By using AI to accelerate production planning and supply chain management, we were able to hire more American workers.”
