A rare relic of ancient Rome was recently discovered in the fort. northern england – Includes 2,000-year-old fruit.
In a Northumberland National Park announcement, officials said in late October that a record number of finds had been made at Fort Bremenium in High Rochester, about 53 miles northwest of Newcastle upon Tyne.
The fortress is more than 20 miles north of Hadrian’s Wall, an ancient wall designed to protect Britannia’s northern borders from the Picts.

“It’s inspiring to see so many people of all ages working to unearth our common heritage,” Chris Jones, Northumberland National Park Authority’s historic environment officer, said in a statement.

“These discoveries help us understand how people lived in the past from the ruins they left behind, which leaves a very lasting mark on the landscape,” Jones said.
Bob Jackson, director of excavations at the Ladysdale Archaeological Group (RAG), said the artifacts were “exceptional in both quantity and quality”.
