The incident occurred around 10 a.m. on November 14th.
“At approximately 10 a.m., a female chimpanzee was seen outside the exhibit,” the zoo said in a statement posted on Facebook.

The animal was then sedated and safely returned to its habitat, with no injuries reported.
“In accordance with emergency measures, the zoo was immediately placed on lockdown and all visitors were escorted to a safe location,” the zoo said. “The chimpanzees were sedated; Back to her exhibit.”
