As the U.S. government shutdown drags on, airlines continue to warn customers about potential schedule changes.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has implemented a flight reduction plan that limits air traffic capacity at 40 airports.
TSA Acting Administrator Adam Stahl told Fox News Digital on Thursday that the extended closure will continue to have a significant impact on police dispatch wait times.

“Go early. Please be patient with TSA agents,” he added. “Once again they are doing their best under difficult circumstances.”

Because of demographics, Stahl said, all airports have experienced different operational workflows. Also, it may be better to be outside during some times of the day or night than others.
“Traditionally, the morning and evening rush hours are of course crowded, [as] Business travelers are more likely to travel on weekdays. ”

“There is no reduction in safety,” Stahl said, reiterating that the TSA is taking steps to alleviate concerns.

“We have a national deployment office, which is essentially our search force, and we specifically encourage these people to: [help out in] Atlanta, Houston, Charlotte are areas with high reporting rates,” he said.
Stahl said the shutdown is impacting the financial lives of TSA employees.

“I heard this story a few days ago from a young TSA employee, a female TSA employee,” Stahl said. “She had $40 in her bank account. She had to choose between paying for her child’s diapers or paying for food.”

He added: “This speaks not only to the resilience of our employees, but also to how dire this is economically for them on a personal level.”
